Ms. Karen Preston
Karen Preston has served on the San Marino Unified Board of Education since November 2003 and currently presides as its President. Karen has served as the Board Representative for PTA Council, City of San Marino Recreation Commission, Technology Advisory Committee, Six Star Coalition, and Arts Advisory Committee. Karen is passionate about ensuring San Marino Unified School District’s legacy of excellence on behalf of every student attending its schools.
Karen has served, and continues to serve, children locally and abroad including Carver PTA President, Huntington PTA Board, SMHS PTSA, PTA Council, Spiritual Care Guild of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Board and Past President, Spiritual Care Advisory Committee (CHLA), American Women’s Auxiliary of the Royal Childrens Hospital of Melbourne, Australia, Junior League of Pasadena, Kidspace, San Marino National Little League Board, San Marino Junior Alliance Board, Young Life in the Foothills Board, Director of Vacation Bible School at Lake Avenue Church, and Student Ministries Division at Lake Avenue Church.
Karen has lived in San Marino since 1999 with her husband, Michael, who is an attorney. They have two boys, Danny, a sophomore at San Marino High School, and Steven, attending 7th grade at Huntington Middle School.
